Is Granite Cheaper Than Quartz?

In general, granite tends to be cheaper than quartz, but this is not always the case. Quality quartz countertops may range from $40 per square foot to upwards of $160 per square foot. Granite can range from $35 per square foot to upwards of $400 per square foot for the very rare ones. Of course, the other hidden cost here is that granite countertops require an annual resealing that can run you anywhere between $150 to $300 dollars minimum per year.

Quartz, because of its non-porous nature, does not require any resealing ever. Of course, costs will fluctuate with market, styles, finishes, slab depth, etc. so it’s always a good idea to go ahead and get a quote on both quartz and granite to see just how expensive your options really are.
