Can You Roll Out Dough On Granite Countertops?

People generally claim granite is good for rolling out dough on top of. Granite is typically cool to the touch, making it easy to roll out without melting any of the butter in the dough. Although granite is porous, if it’s properly sealed, it shouldn’t absorb much of anything while you’re rolling on it.

There are a few cases where some people have claimed that rolling out dough has damaged the look of their counters, but this is more rare than common. It is also true that you don’t want to clean up with anything acidic or abrasive afterward, though. Use soap and water and a microfiber cloth as soon as you’re done; the countertops should look good.
